Mechanical Engineer

Alterba is a UAE based waste management tech company revolutionizing organic waste management in

the MENA region through the patented decentralized composting technology; the Container Composter

and the next-generation BioSkip. With operations in Lebanon and Jordan and expansion underway in the

UAE, KSA, and Europe, Alterba combines innovation, circular economy models, and partnerships to

deliver scalable waste management solutions enabling the valorization of organic waste and optimization

of operation.

The Mechanical Engineer will oversee the design, development, and market readiness of Alterba’s waste

management technologies. This role requires a unique combination of technical expertise, market

understanding, and project coordination skills. The Lead will ensure alignment across R&D, product

design, business development, funding applications, and advisory, translating high-level strategy into

actionable workstreams and tangible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Coordination

• Translate strategic priorities into technical work plans, timelines, and deliverables.
• Monitor progress across multiple ongoing projects to ensure milestones are achieved.

Product & Technical

• Design, research, and develop waste management products.
• Prepare drawings, calculation notes, and other technical documentation.
• Lead R&D by consolidating inputs from engineers, partners, and field data.

Documentation & Reporting

• Develop structured frameworks such as evaluation matrices, CAPEX/OPEX models, and value
• chains.
• Ensure consistency across technical documentation, proposals, and investor communications.
• Maintain project archives and oversee the organization of Alterba’s knowledge base.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
• 3-5 years’ experience in product development, R&D, or project management within climate-tech, waste management, or circular economy sectors.
• Strong technical design skills (drawings, calculations, prototype validation).
• Demonstrated success in preparing technical contributions to proposals, grants, or investor materials.
• Excellent organizational and coordination abilities, with strong attention to detail.
