About the role
Summary:
The WPT Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring uptime in the Assembly and Machining departments in Duncan SC. This includes working on all types of equipment to include but not limited to CNC machines, hydraulic presses, torque stations, paint booth and ovens, in addition, any other machines that require attention to perform properly. This position could require the tech to be on call in situations of down time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of OEM machine controllers (FANUC)
- Perform mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines
- Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws
- Support with scheduling PM, reading report, diagrams and drawings
- Working knowledge of tool Probing function for CNC Mill Machines
- Able to work with complex NC machine up to & including 5 Axis
- Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines,
- Identify and replace parts as necessary
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls.
- Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
- General facilities maintenance
- Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work
- Work based on a sense of urgency with machine down conditions
- In conjunction with production team, will support continuous improvement of development of PM instructions and schedules to prevent failures
- Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Payrate $29/hr
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to troubleshoot CNC machines for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Must have a proven track record of repairing machinery for continued production for Assembly and Machining.
- Requires the ability to work without supervision
- Must be self-driven to work with a sense of urgency to ensure uptime of machinery.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have the ability to plan and execute highly complex work to precision tolerances, allowances, and finishes
- Must be able to read and interpret complex Engineering blueprints, tool prints and sketches
- Requires the ability to work without supervision

- Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and have daily face-to-face interaction with other employees.
- Employee is constantly required to stand for 8 hours at a time, with minimal breaks.
- Employee is constantly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
- Employee is frequently required to walk, bend, reach outward, and handle materials and tools.
- Employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, squat and/or kneel.
- Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
- Employee is occasionally required to climb.
- Employee is required to operate heavy machinery including cranes.
- Employee is required to wear safety glasses, steel/composite toe shoes and hearing protection
- The position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

- The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment and occasionally exposed to cold or hot weather conditions. Frequently exposed to load noises and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $29.00. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
