The Boiler Plant Operator runs, maintains, and repairs large steam-generating boilers and auxiliary equipment at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Key Job Functions
- Interpret gauges, meters, and computerized control systems to track steam pressure, water levels, and combustion efficiency.
- Perform preventative maintenance—such as replacing valves and gaskets—and conduct repairs to keep equipment from corroding or malfunctioning.
- Sample and test boiler water, adjusting chemical treatments as needed to prevent rust and scaling.
- Conduct diagnostic tests, maintain detailed operational logs, and follow strict environmental and safety regulations.
- Performs other related duties as required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must have at least 5 years of experience of operating boiler plants and at least 2 years operating boiler plants as MD Grade 1 Stationary Engineer
- Must be licensed as Maryland (MD) Stationary Engineer Grade 1 - 500 or more horsepower (in any building)
- Must submit license(s) with resume
- Must possess mechanical inclination and the physical ability to work in demanding environments (bending, lifting, climbing)
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must be able to pass a government background check
