About the Role
The Operations Specialist, Support Vehicle Fleet will play a key role in facilitating final-mile robot operations at DoorDash Labs. You will be responsible for executing planned maintenance and unplanned repairs on the motor vehicle fleet that enables and supports robot operations. In addition to facilitating repairs with external maintenance shops, you will personally perform maintenance tasks. This vehicle fleet includes box trucks, cargo vans, pickup trucks, and sedans. You will maintain thorough and accurate service records of all tasks performed on vehicles.

- Perform hands-on work to facilitate, implement, and execute repairs on a vehicle fleet of box trucks, cargo vans, pickup trucks, and sedans.
- Diagnose and safely perform minor vehicle repairs, including (but not limited to) battery jump-starts, tire repairs, bulb replacement, fluid refills, and simple hardware malfunctions.
- Retrofit vehicles with specialized equipment for DoorDash’s robot operational needs.
- Transport vehicles or coordinate towing to maintenance shops for more advanced repairs beyond your scope.
- Work independently and decisively to execute on a list of vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks that directly impact the viability of DoorDash Labs’s robot operations.
- Clearly and consistently document vehicle issues, troubleshooting, repairs, and resolutions.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, traffic laws, and relevant government regulations for drivers.
- Collaborate effectively with robot operations, service operations, issue triaging teams, and other teams to ensure seamless vehicle issue diagnosis and repair.
- Proactively identify and suggest improvements to vehicle maintenance processes and workflows.

- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or technical certification preferred.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a role including vehicle maintenance responsibilities, such as a truck driver or final-mile delivery driver in a fleet vehicle. Direct mechanic / maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of basic vehicle components and systems, their safe operation, and their warning signs for malfunction or failure.
- Ability to independently identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair basic vehicle failures. Comfortable with identifying vehicle issues and taking action to remedy them.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A valid driver's license with a demonstrably clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
